I used to catch crayfish many years ago in Queensland Australia. The 2 types I caught were either painted crays or coral crays.

The painted crays were spectacular and grew very large, so large that I could not touch my fingers together when I held one around its carapice with both hands. Probem was they didnt taste so nice.

The smaller coral crays were just reddish purple and on average were about a foot long. These howerver tasted really good. I used to catch more on a snorkel than on scuba back then as I got most in about 10-40 feet of water.

When they were caught they'd vibrate their feelers or antena in distress, this sharks honed in on. Had lots of white and black tip reef sharks honing in on me on some occasions, a few times I had to keep my fins towards them till I got the cray in the boat so if they bit they'd bite the fin first. Couldnt guarantee one coming 'left field' though. But they never did.

Have fun, the rewards are great .

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.
