Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and is about 200 km to the north of Brisbane. Astonishingly, it is also the only place where tall rainforests grow on sand!

I wonder what happened too. I read your comment and then it disappeared. You are right. There is a lot of underground water on Fraser Island which bind the sad together tightly which could be why these tall trees can grow. Normally, only plants like cactus, grass and shrubs grow on sand.
