Roses,

The photo was taken in Brisbane so these are Australian flying foxes! They are sleeping which is why we cannot see the 6 ft wings.

Plenty in Oz, they are also called Fruit Bats.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Oh! Something new to me! I've never seen flying foxes! And I'm afraid of bats!

Yes, they are traveler. They are well looked after and well fed and all they have to do is hang around.

But Rosie,

The flying fox is found in the Philippines too. In Malaysia, their favourite food is the durian.

They are sleeping, MsEd. They are nocturnal. When I was a small boy, I remember seeing flocks of them in the evening sky as they flew toward the hills to raid the orchards.

Mrsjoe,

A friend once told me that the flying foxes only pick the best durian to eat but I believe that Is only folklore. Do you know that the flying fox is an exotic food here? I have tried it once and found that it is mostly skin and bones and nothing special.

Yes sw,

Compared to the bat, they are huge and scary. But, they feed on flowers and fruits only.and are not dangerous.

Thank you, Roxy.

These bats seldom bite. I remember exploring a huge cave and there were lots of bats flying everywhere but not one of us was knocked into or bitten.

Hi GLUMO,

I am sure therefore flying foxes in the Honduras. Do not worry. They are more scared of us than we are of them. In Makaysia, men trapped them to protect their orchards and these bats end up on the dining table.
