Yea, just how much more ridiculous can this presidency get?
If he watches a movie anytime soon I'm sure he'll win an Oscar.

It is the committee's prize to give out. Not the first nor will it be the last controversial award but it's not really anybody else's concern. Their money, their standards, their choice.

I have to laugh when the Nobel committee tries and justifies its decision.......Only in Europe could this happen,

After reading so much about the controversy, (mostly from the right), I believe he would have received it even if he wasn't elected President.
His rhetoric, no matter what anyone thinks of it, gave hope not only to the American People, but to the world.
It sure beat McCain's remark when he was running for the Presidency and said, "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran!".
When Peace is spoken, and attempted, why shouldn't it be recognized?

I agree with undup.
Bush turned nations around the world away from the USA, nations that once were supposedly our friends. He was arrogant and thoughtless and scared a lot of people around the world with his egocentric and selfish behavior. Bush acted like he was King of the world instead of the President of the United States of America. Obama comes along and not only gives the world hope but also gives our nation, the same nation that Bush has brought to our knees with his corrupt government, some hope. As much as I don't care for Obama, he didn't create this mess our country is still going through now. So get over it.

jrh,
I believe the jury is still out as to whether or not Obama deserves this award. What bothers me about the whole business is that I believe he received the award prematurely. It would have made a lot more sense if the Nobel Peace Prize committee wouldn't have just taken him at his word and would have waited for him to actually DO some of the things he had promised. Whether this says something negative about the committee or about Obama remains to be seen. He did not ask to win the prize. Then again, had he refused it based on the fact that it was premature, more Americans would probably respect his decision.
I celebrate myself today. I am alive and growing. I will strive to be the best I can be each and every day.

Etymology: From Latin rhētorica < Ancient Greek ῥητορική (rhētorikē ), feminine form of ῥητορικός (rhētorikos), concerning public speech) < ῥήτωρ (rhētōr), public speaker).
1.The art of using language, especially public speaking, as a means to persuade. 2.Meaningless language with an exaggerated style intended to impress. Its only so much rhetoric.
Obama's rhetoric remains.....only so much rhetoric.

Rhetoric, speeches, whatever term you use. It still gave hope to a country that had fallen so far that the wise people of USA needed to be given hope, and Obama did just that.
I am proud that Obama received the Award !
