The abject farce still has me spechless! Have the left any more kool-ade to drink!! To noinate a man 11 days ointo his job for such an award is scandalous outrageous and more than a pity! But should we be surprised! In this past decade they have given the prize to a deceased woman of dubious mental health smply as she had died and given the prize to a woman who of all things planted trees!!!! Not to mention to Mr. Gore for warning of global warming!! Hat to say it Mr Veep but its been a damned cold and wet year!! What happened to all the books in the 70's warning ooof the coming ice age!!! I lost respect for the reward when the ex princess received it and tottally wrote it off as a bougus reward for poltical correctness when the tree planter won hers! My two cents is this if Obama had any spine he would say thanks but no thanks and show the world AMericans dont have to be so self centered. He can still do what he seems to do best and shift positions do the right thing and erefuse the award! He wont its an ego boost to him. Now about the charity why doesnt he repay the US treasury he had robbed with his socialisitc spending spree or repayment for the money used to fly Air Force One around NYC for political payoffs or that non national jaunt off to try to gain the Olympics for his adopted city!! What are your views, Vote and then expand on your reasons all replys in good nature accpted pro or con!!
Woderful news he deserved it
Reason stated was valid and it is justified
Shame its a totaly waste of a once admired award
The left is happy i am not
The jury is still out if he deserves it or not
What peace and how did he bring it about in 11 days
If he got it when do i get it ive done as much as he has for world peace
obama got the nobel Peace Prize are you pulling my leg he really got it no not possiible
He got it for defeating Bush

Yea, just how much more ridiculous can this presidency get?

If he watches a movie anytime soon I'm sure he'll win an Oscar.

It is the committee's prize to give out. Not the first nor will it be the last controversial award but it's not really anybody else's concern. Their money, their standards, their choice.

I have to laugh when the Nobel committee tries and justifies its decision.......Only in Europe could this happen,

After reading so much about the controversy, (mostly from the right), I believe he would have received it even if he wasn't elected President.

His rhetoric, no matter what anyone thinks of it, gave hope not only to the American People, but to the world.

It sure beat McCain's remark when he was running for the Presidency and said, "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran!".

When Peace is spoken, and attempted, why shouldn't it be recognized?

I agree with undup.

Bush turned nations around the world away from the USA, nations that once were supposedly our friends. He was arrogant and thoughtless and scared a lot of people around the world with his egocentric and selfish behavior. Bush acted like he was King of the world instead of the President of the United States of America. Obama comes along and not only gives the world hope but also gives our nation, the same nation that Bush has brought to our knees with his corrupt government, some hope. As much as I don't care for Obama, he didn't create this mess our country is still going through now. So get over it.

jrh,

I believe the jury is still out as to whether or not Obama deserves this award. What bothers me about the whole business is that I believe he received the award prematurely. It would have made a lot more sense if the Nobel Peace Prize committee wouldn't have just taken him at his word and would have waited for him to actually DO some of the things he had promised. Whether this says something negative about the committee or about Obama remains to be seen. He did not ask to win the prize. Then again, had he refused it based on the fact that it was premature, more Americans would probably respect his decision.

I celebrate myself today. I am alive and growing. I will strive to be the best I can be each and every day.

Etymology: From Latin rhētorica < Ancient Greek ῥητορική (rhētorikē ), feminine form of ῥητορικός (rhētorikos), “‘concerning public speech’”) < ῥήτωρ (rhētōr), “‘public speaker’”).

1.The art of using language, especially public speaking, as a means to persuade.
2.Meaningless language with an exaggerated style intended to impress.
It’s only so much rhetoric.

Obama's rhetoric remains.....only so much rhetoric.

to bob77021__,

Rhetoric, speeches, whatever term you use. It still gave hope to a country that had fallen so far that the wise people of USA needed to be given hope, and Obama did just that.

I am proud that Obama received the Award !
