My hubby has 2 days of vacation this week so i decided to put him to work. When we bought our house, it had 2 huge flower beds along the front side of our house. For some reason they filled em with river rocks. I think it is really ugly had decided we are goin to dig em out and plant flowers. About half way thru this afternoon, lol, I almost changed my mind. Who knew rivers rocks were heavy lol duhhhhh! We got one half done, to the front porch. Then we stopped cause our backs were killing us, and went to lowes to look for top soil and different plants. My MIL had given me some really pretty Gerber daiseys, and some purple flowers that look like lavender. I also bought a snow ball bush, and alot of panseys, i love panseys!!. My MIL also gave me a bunch of ferns she transplanted from her garden. we bought 5 pots of wave petunias, and at Aldis last week i found planters with red white and blue flowers. they are so pretty, I hope I don t kill em! When the kids come home tomorrow, we hope to be finished with the front, and we are gonna get to work on the spot I want my garden. they dumped a bunch of rocks there too, I guess it was what was left over from my flower beds, I think I hate rocks now I am glad I didnt plant my peppers and tomatoes yet..they are calling for possible frost tonight! When I get done the front of my house I hope i can post a picture of it. Hope you all had a nice week end and Monday!

Hey little sis...hugs...Rocks..I know well of what you speak, I have an acre of rocks and a lot of sand....nothing grows in either, have a few carefully tended flower beds but mostly some very poor looking grass..mind you I have a crop of dandelions to die for. At least the weeds give the lawn a bit of green. Living beside the lake and a wildlife conservation area I never use herbicides or pesticides..Just live with it..ahh planting time..sounds great....hugs darlin..witch/Erna

Thank goodness...no rocks in my flower beds, or yard, except for a path...and the driveway..but I wanted them there.

Darn, if I had known I would have taken those rocks off your hand , I am about to do the other way around. Taking some soil away and putting rocks down along the side of my house, cause I don't want to water my foundation and save time. Got a couple of huge ceramic pots to put flowers in instead. That will make my life a lot easier.
