This is a blog to honor our Armed Services men and women!. I invite anyone who wishes to to share a memory. My husband is an ex marine, he saw alot during his tour in desert storm. he is one of the bravest men I know. He still has nightmares sometimes of what he saw and did there. My Father in law was in the army, and my Dad is a swabbie. He told me wonderful stories of all the places he had been over the world. He send my mom beautiful post cards, one I always looked at as a child was from Spain, a beautiful woman in a Spanish dress dancing with castanets. i thank all of you who were in the service for protecting our world! ty!! Please feel free to add a memory!! kellyc aka saucy

Saucy:

Thanks for this blog honoring our VETS. Mac is ex Navy and Korean VET. My son spent 7 years as an Army Linguist in Arabic. We appreciate the service they gave to their country.

I also want to acknowledge my appreciation for my ex MIL's son Patrick. He died in Nam. My neighbors husband was a WWII Vet. His ashes lie in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery just north of Phoenix.

Thanks Saucy and glad to hear you are safe.

Until my generation, every male on both sides of the family served in the military--some in peacetime, some in wartime. Most of them came home, scarred, but home. I wish people would appreciate their sacrifices more often than just a couple of times a year.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it is in English, thank a Veteran

Saucy thanks for this message! I am so thankful for all those who gave their all and to the many who lost much, including family, while serving our country. And may God richly Bless those returning now and those going into battle in future generations.........

I am not a veteran.I thank all of you.
It could be that all who experienced combat have a wound.
Some carry it better than others.Ira Hays might be an example. He is one of the men in the famous Iwo Jima Mt Surabachi flag raising. He was awarder the Medal of Honor, yet tragically succumbed to alchohol.
I am saying this because the idea allowed me to find the compassion to forgive someone who was a Vet who did great wrong.
And,lets not forget how many people survive war, only to die at their own hands

On another note,my mother enlisted as an Army nurse in 42 or 43.Went to Casablanca, then served in N.Africa and Italy.Wore a helmet sometimes, hospital was a green tent.My father was motor pooling ambulances.
When I invited her to go see "Saving Private Ryan",she told me when they triaged the guys who had no hope, she took the job of holding them while they died
