My son brought home a book last week called "Left Behind" written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.it deals with the Rapture. I really never saw him get into a book the way he was this one. he is more of a sports minded person unlike me, im a bookworm. He had been telling me all about it, so when he was thru i started.. it deals with millions of people being taken by god, in the last days before the devils reign on earth, and then the people who are left behind. today my daughter and i went to the thrift store and we found the whole series. i cant wait to read them all. it may take me awhile, because it is a 10 book series so far. i am interested as to whether any of you have read this series and how it makes you feel. did it enhance your religious beliefs or spirituality? in my opinion they are worth reading! kellyc aka saucy

Hey Kelly, I had never heard of the books so I g00gled for info. ( I love doing research when I see an interesting topic in blogland)
There are a total of 16 books in the series so you have a massive amount of reading to do 3 movies have been released based on these books and the first one is titled "Left Behind" staring Kirk Cameron. Thought that might be of interest to you.

No I have been reading the Eckhart Tolle book, A New Earth and doing the online study with he and Oprah that I need to finish and that led me to Elizabeth Lesser's Book The Seekers Guide. I am by far more spiritual than religious but have heard of the Rapture sounds like you've got your work cut out for you! Keep us posted.

Saucy, yes, I have the whole series and read them all, couldn't put the books down once I got started!!!
The books do make you think about the Rapture and what could happen in the future, but not sure if some would become a believer by reading them.

Ive read the entire series and actually there are 12 books in total. There is a 13th that deals with the afterlife. Reading these books has opened my eyes a bit wider as to what may lay beyond this life. My beliefs have not changed but I have been greatly uplifted by what these books portray. As you read them look up the scriptures that are given in the books as well. These 2 men are great writers and if you have ever read the last book of the Bible you will find many similarities in the Bible and these books and will have you wondering if their interpretation is accurate or not. Good luck to you on your reading. I know you will enjoy each one.

By the way, read the books first before watching the movies. You will be greatly disappointed in the movie once you have read the first book. The movie has left alot to be desired believe me. Im just glad I read the book first.

loved those books, I often do a comprehensive teaching on the rapure. One may say "where is the rapture found in the Bible" In Luke 17:34-36 Jesus says "I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 Two men will be in the field : the one will be taken and the other left." the word "taken" in the Greek is harpazo, which means "violently snatched away" Saint Jerome when he translated the Bible into the Latin Vulgate used the Latin word for "taken" as rapturo. The Latin word rapturo is the root from which we get raptor, a bird of prey like hawks and eagles who swoop down and snatch their prey. We also get rapture, or enraptured meaning to be instantly transported in our mind by an overwhelming emotion, to another place. Now you know...the rest of the story. lol D
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

I picked one up for free at a book exchange booth. I had never heard of the series. My daughter told me about it. Started reading it a few months ago, but never finished. I wouldn't call it a page-turner.
