A Visit to the Gulf Coast

For years I had been waiting for the chance to go to meet and greet in Biloxi, MS, but it always held the weekend before Labor and I could never attend because we had just started classes and taking time off not allowed. Last year of course, I thought, finally, I can go but then Covid and several huge events happened in my family that simply again made it impractical.

Well this year, the organizer decided to move the Biloxi get together to late October and the weekend of Halloween. This lessened the risk of a hurricane, but it also made it possible for me to attend for the first time. So I flew into New Orleans on Wednesday (night), rented a car at the airport and then drove the to Bilox Due to flight delays and bad weather I did not get to Biloxi and my hotel until almost midnight. . Lady in a Million and I met and she generous enough to stay up and greet me upon my arrival.

I ended up having to drive back to New Orleans to get some stuff i forgot in the airport the next morning, but enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant with LIAM and Rebel Viking from Texas. On my way back to Biloxi from New Orleans this time I drove the coastal Highway 90 which slower but very scenic. I took some pictures of the beautiful white sandy beach near Pass Christian. about 3:30 when I got back to the hotel, 5 more people had arrived including Koffla, Bob and his wife from Houston and another couple from Florida, Ed and Shirley. about 5:30 PM four of us went to dinner the Hard Rock Cafe. Koffla from Philadelphia and LIAM and Rebel joined us.

On Friday, LIAM, Rebel and I decided to go tour the Jefferson Davis Mansion called Beau Voir. It quite interesting and completely apolitical. After the tour the 3 of us went to a restaurant right on the gulf called Snappers where we enjoyed some seafood. We then went next door to a huge gift shop called Shark's Tooth, before returning to the hotel. About 8:30 PM I went to sample a BBQ place on the gulf called Fat Bottom BBQ. It okay but I have had better. I enjoyed getting to know Ed and Shirley and we shared many funny stories. It also fun to meet Bob for the first time.

The next morning I enjoyed my final breakfast in the hotel restaurant and after saying goodbye I left and began the drive bac I stopped to visit the Ground Zero Hurricane Museum in Waveland, MS. It interesting and Waveland where Katrina and Camille both had come ashore first. Most of the town had been destroyed by Katrina but the one building that survived the city hall which converted into a museum. A lady who worked there came and talked to for almost 30 minutes about the hurricane and the destruction it caused in the town. After about an hour I headed back to the New Orleans airport to turn in my car and catch my flight back home. I arrived back in Omaha at about PM on Saturday night after a brief layover in St. Louis. It an enjoyable trip.

Their stupid bot program cuts out words and numbers which makes me sound illiterate.

There are certain words and numbers that a bot program cuts out even if you use them in a completely normal or honest way. I guess it is a response to people who put contact information in their profiles or blogs.

This is ridiculous, every time I typed the word "was" in my post the bot program deleted it. Why on earth would "was" trigger a bot program to cut out that word? It doesn't make any sense.
