This southern girl did not hear of a time out chair until probably 5 years ago. Maybe it is a thing of the present, but surely not of the past. I do not long for a forgotten era. I personally don't remember when men and ladies wore hats but my mother does. As of late we have noticed a tendency toward leniency in the category of child development and sometimes courtesy in general. When I was younger little old ladies would impose their opinions on unruly children. Even "street toughs" might be swatted by an umbrella by one of these die-hard matrons. A gentleman would escort his lady to a vehicle, and open doors for her. Recently, by virtue of a twice broken, once snakebitten ankle I was loading my wheelchair onto a truck while in crutches as two men looked on. What is wrong with that picture? I am not unattractive, unapproachable or a dominatrix. I am a woman, at that time partially handicapped with two able-bodied onlookers. As I drove past, I thanked them heartily. But, then, maybe they were raised with a time out chair instead of the rod mentioned in the Bible.

Today, on this lovely day, my daughter was baptized. No, she is not a teen or a pre-teen and she has 2 young boys. Having been sprinkled as a small child, and our having embraced another religion caused her to question if submersion in water might be the way to go. We are overjoyed. What a gift she has given us all.
