WELL IT'S NOT FRIDAY BUT.......

I know I'm late. I've been going through every ones submissions for Foto-Friday and really enjoying the varied themes and unique pictures.

I've had company all week from Oregon, Sue (the one on the right, background in picture below) and her husband of 35 years. She has been dealing with some very serious health issues, and is currently having to use a walker to get around. It saddens me to see this once very energetic and vibrant person going through what she is, but we have hope that her condition will improve. What really touches me is that they came down here to be with me while I went through a very minor, and simple medical procedure. With her challenges, she still wanted to be here for support. They are leaving for home today, and I will be meeting them soon for breakfast before they get on the road. Yesterday I got all the makings for a Mexican Food spread, and was Sue's "prep cook" as she orchestrated a most delicious array of dishes. She use to have her own Mexican restaurant and I tell you ... she's a good chef!

Here is a picture taken a few years back.

Long lasting friendships

Some friends “come and go” but others stick to you like a brother! No matter how long or how short of time you have known them, they feel like family. That’s how it is with the three characters in this picture. All three are friends that I have had since my high school years, and we even lived together as house mates during the early 70’s. Sue and Vic, the two in the back were my house mates for four years, and Sharon lived with us for about a year during that time.

When I look back at the forty plus years that I have known these gals, I have so many memories of good times, bad times, and of sad times that each of us have experienced separately and together. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of “stick-to-my-side” friends. Each one has their very own unique personality, and sometimes I wonder how we ever managed to even become friends, let alone last this long.

This picture was taken in 2003 on a very rare occasion where the three of us were able to meet for lunch and share some old time gab.

Rick ~ I am doing just fine. Doctor just wanted me to have a procedure done to make sure I was. I think it has more to do with age than anything else

Lovely happy photo, Karen. Nothing beats a group of good friends having a laugh and reminiscing about times past.
