What an individual pays already depends on income. Some are already paying $247.

As I do have a few years to go before I am eligible for Medicare, by then, I am sure I will be lucky if I can afford to breathe or even if there will be a world left to breathe in. I think medicare is very hard for most people to understand.(me being one of them).I personally think that the older one gets, the less it SHOULD cost... as Americans by that time one has been in the paying system for so long we shouldn't be beat up by the costs of health insurance. Well, that seems like the fair and moral thing to me. I do understand that the world doesn't ever think on a fairness scale though.

Hi Meri: So sorry that any of you Americans have to pay anything for your health insurance. I lived in the U.S. and spent so much time on our health care, and a fortune on co-payments and even had an entire drawer of our filing cabinet for al the paperwork involved in our health care. It's all so complicated and expensive. What I will never understand is why the U.S. government doesn't just stop all the foreign aid and unnecessary expenses and just simply pay for your health care out of your taxes like other countries do??? Another question is why should these hospitals be able to charge several thousand dollars for the simplest hospital procedure??

Curious that you say you received this information from your health insurance company or is that also not quite true?
I know my US travel insurance is about to jump 12% but if I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't travel to the US.
