Did you see his blog...."If You Think Democrats Don't Embrace Terrorists, Think Again".........The blog is a C&P of a satire piece that he posted as a true story by changing the title and first sentence which say that it is from the year 2025. He then goes on to rant about the horrors, as if it's true and even engages with comments that assume it's a true story. When he gets busted by Maggie and Katie, his response is that they are too stupid to recognise a simple "typo". and insults them.........Pretty ironic for someone who calls their blogs..."The Truth....Can you handle it?"......LOL...........Anyways, the man is evidently profoundly disturbed.

Hi Earthy...welcome back and an interesting read. You'll get no argument from me on conservative BS. I see myself moderate across the board mostly. I prefer left leaning government but not so far left as to believe that legalization of drugs would be good in any capacity. In my view capitalism is broken. Because of that I am supporting of dramatic change to realign society in ways that advance culture, preserve the safety net, equalize economic opportunity and move America toward a less militarized position internationally. I see Trump as an absolute disaster in terms of all of those concerns. I would say I'm right in the middle socially, and certainly not shy about expressing left of center views in a room full of conservatives. I'll take them on any time and like millions of Americans, I know right wing BS when I hear it. What frustrates me the most is what I sense to be a serious decline in visible expressions of empathy by people. I worry about that, feeling the lack of empathy is adversely affecting our ability to cooperate and work for the common good. Without institutional commitment to fill that gap the world my kids will inherit will become a very harsh one. So I'm troubled by this.
I have mentioned numerous times when you are serious. How truly understanding you are.

It's a shame those here on the Right can't read you. Can't or refuse to understand.

There is nothing in this statement for anybody to ADAMANTLY disagree with.

It seems to me that ideology too often takes the place of empathy.....Many people seem to not trust their own empathetic sense and therefore that of others........Empathy is even perceived as weakness and used as a rift in someones armour.....a chance to impose one's will on others.....to bully. All we can do about it, in my view, is to raise children to trust and revere their empathy and see it as a gift........

In this age of mass media and global interests, we need to find ways to be empathetic in ways we never have before......Our empathy was very recently only expected to pertain to a close circle of extended family, clan, community including domestic animals........that circle has grown steadily until now, an image on a TV or computer screen is expected to evoke empathy.....Our clan has become so huge and encompassing, that something has to give, so we divide by different criteria.........like politics and religion, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, species etc...........We need to learn how to consciously train or re=program our empathetic sense ......fortunately, there are many people working on that problem........

A pretty good analogy, ET...describes them perfectly.
Almost every blog they write is bait for the victimisation of those they disagree with. I find it truly mind-boggling that these few misguided people can so absolutely believe they are "right" ... and all the rest of humanity is "wrong".
It's the same ideology that terrorists use...it's also the thinking Hitler used...based in nothing more than hatred and fear.

I'm laughing here, Sparkle...at myself! You have said, in a few words, what I struggle to put into any words at all!
Sometimes, I feel that I must be some sort of throwback because I can feel both sides of an issue...not just see, but really feel.
It's not something I consciously do...it's just there. I've had to learn (the hard way) not to always express it, but truly it is just a part of me I'm sure this is true for millions of others too. Denial of the existence of empathy would be like denial of our existence.

As you see, I'm getting bogged down, so I'll stop with this quote!

Daniel Goleman, author of the book Emotional Intelligence, says that empathy is basically the ability to understand others’ emotions. He also, however, notes that at a deeper level, it is about defining, understanding, and reacting to the concerns and needs that underlie others’ emotional responses and reactions.

Both you and sparlefit have help to define the real issues.

The changing view of empathy, as weakness

To me.. what goes along with empathy. Is simply the "golden rule.."
"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you"

There is no "what comes first.. the chicken or the egg". There is no first. there is no justification for what others do to you.

I am constantly trying to create new ideas. So in that light.. there can be no empathy, without self-empathy......that empathy puts yourself in your own shoes.
You got to walk the walk, not talk to talk.

Pema Chodron is a Canadian/American Buddhist nun, teacher, author,

Wonderful blog Earthy and I'm glad you had a wonderful time. I live in vacation land, the population on this small island doubles and the infrastructure gets strained.....ferry waits and unsafe roads.......It's very strange, but many visitors seem to think that because the island is so undeveloped, usual rules of safety and courtesy don't apply.......We become local colour and just part of the scenery........but it's only for a couple of three months. We locals still know the quiet places we can go to dangle our feet in the water and swim with the damsel -flies.......away from the clamour.......There is always some conflict between the rich retirees who don't want the tourists here and those who depend on the tourists for their livelihood......Personally, I have one foot on both sides......as usual.

Your absolutely right I have no new idea just recycled ones.

I do takes words to new meanings. In this case, empathy....what is it really.?

Maybe there is no such thing as self -empathy. but I keep thinking......
it's hard to walk in someone else's shoes....If you don't know how to walk.

So i think "do unto others as you would have others do unto you..." is really about empathy.

ET Amiga, Huge Hug! Nothing original to say here, but, I enjoy all your comments! Unfortunately, I do believe there are a few chatters that "feed" off of disagreements. I rarely stop by to see IF I see any of my good friends are in the chat rooms. If they aren't, I stop and read their blogs. Most of the time, I don't comment. I try to remember that everyone has something "special" to contribute. I TRY to "choose" whether or not, I will LET someone, upset my day. Most of the time, I choose to be Happy,

Been gone long enough that I have avoided all this political BS here, which is a good thing, I had enough problems without adding more stress into my life.

I can't and don't understand why people go all the way to the right, or left, and I don't understand why people don't listen to each other and come to some kind of agreement instead of attacking a person who has a different viewpoint. So sorry to hear you got in the line of fire from someone who's cheese slid off their cracker, but it happens a lot here.

After doing some studying with a very knowledgeable person, I can't agree much with either side of the political spectrum anymore.
