 Thanks ET...I'll try it. Most of the shop bought cleaners I can't use...I have bad reactions. We don't have Blue Dawn soap but hope Fairy will work just as well!

 Great idea Earthy. There are huge white salt stains on the carpets in my car so I'll try it.

On this side of the Pond, Dawn is a dish detergent that is used to clean birds and other wildlife that get contaminated in oil spills. I'm pretty sure you'll need one that really cuts the grease.

I'll have to give this concoction a try on my car mats too.
