I only go on this site, not on the face place.

I glance at titles of blogs and pretty much know which to open. Seems like a lot I do not open.

I wrote a blog which said things have changed. Well I should say, what has changed is my motivation.
Ideology was never important to me..
You and i have been dealing with my circular talk, my confusing ideas since the "good old days".
My motivation at that time, was to try and get people to think, not to think what I wanted them to think, but to maybe just see thing different. Maybe I don't have that right, maybe it was an imposition. I didn't see it that way, but you did and still do. But I have changed.
From an ideology point of view, I see very little difference between you and I. but on 'other' things we are worlds apart.
I do not choose sides by ideology (well I do now, but I didn't then). No more circular talk from me. Just the straight stuff.
As you carry on with the "good old days", i see it a little different.
The grudge still remains, not my choice but yours.
have I contributed to the current state of affair. I can see people thinking that.
but the way i see it, is there people here, that no matter the subject take disagreement personal. they make it personal, even if it's not.
So i don't see that changing, with the subject.
For some it's just the same old stuff, just a different topic.

Every day I log in here hoping against hope that things will miraculously change somehow and people will be kind to each other. I stopped blogging years ago due to all the insults, but I used to enjoy writing blogs and seeing who replied. For various reasons, at our age for some of us SFF can be basically our only contact with people. Why can't we spend what may be our final years belonging to a group where we can find a little happiness and make new friends?

    Quoting  :

Oh look...the bully enablers are whining again! The poor wee souls who think it's OK for them to hurt, minimise and degrade others...and use wild guesses to insult them.

They complain that nobody posts personal thoughts and ideas nowadays...yet they've seen exactly how those are treated by the real bullies in SFF. And still they emulate them. Who in their right mind would open themselves to that?

It's strange to me that all of the people they hate so much are "different from them in some way" And the list is long.
MUSLIMS,
LIBERALS
BLACK PEOPLE
BROWN PEOPLE
ATHEISTS
LGBT PEOPLE
NON-CHRISTIANS
THE POOR
REFUGEES
MEXICANS
JEWS
CANADIANS
And even VEGETARIANS

I have never heard so much whining in my life. They just don't get what human freedoms and dignity are.

There's so much more to life than this!!

Ditto on your observation. The only thing I wold add is that the take over of hostility and cruelty is an unfortunate reflection of our current American social climate. We have been given permission to act like primates rather than humans and many are having a field day slinging poop. While just about everyone's anger probably has legitimate roots the way that make all of us who we are it's current method of expression is unacceptable to me. I avoid blogs here at present other than to look in and see what people like you might have to say.

I truly enjoy sharing my slices of life and may do so again once I have perfected a way to completely ignore the rest of the crap. At present though things have become so negative and limited in perspective that I do not want to be associated with the ugly anger and bullying expressed by the leaders of this community.

This site is called SENIOR FRIEND FINDERS!!

Unfortunately, a few seem to have either forgotten the 'FRIENDS' part, or chose to ignore it.

You can show your displeasure with those who abuse the FRIENDS part by not opening their blogs. If enough people do this, hopefully they will get the idea.

**Let's have FUN in here with our FRIENDS!!!

Sorry ET...didn't mean to spoil your blog. Please feel free to delete my comment if you wish.

I think we have all been through many things in our lives...the last thing we need is to be driven out by the very few grossly competitive self-absorbed people.

But there's ALWAYS HOPE!!!

I agree with what you have said, but this kind of blog seems to bring out those who want to point the finger at others, so what good does it really do?
I enjoy the politically minded blogs, but I very much dislike the name calling that seems to end up in the comments. I also enjoy the blogs that are comical, and the ones that offer a slice of life from a blogger.......... but I agree that when we give out any sensitive information about our lives, it seems to open up a sore spot for some people to pick at for years.
I have really enjoyed your last two blogs and the comments on them. Maybe if instead of talking about how we wish it were nicer here, we all just work at being nicer, it would be?

Dear ET, I think just like you.
If you, and many of our friends, feel like that, imagine how I feel...I'm not from the US, I'm hispanic. Different culture, maybe different ideals, but we have in common that we all are human beings with a heart that wants to enjoy, share feelings and other interesting things of life. I also was welcomed when I came here for the first time and have felt very well among all of you. But since some bad polititians took the place as their tribune, showing a lack of consideration to others and their bad education, I lost motivation and interest. Sorry for me! I can count with one hand the blogs I read and, depending on my "spirit", maybe I visit this site once a week...
Well...Let's try not to loose hope for better days...

I agree with Mrsjoe... I too don't mind the political blogs but it's the nasty comments I now try to stay away from. God knows I've encountered enough name calling in he last while, particularly by 3 SFFers. I do go on the FB site daily, most importantly the Canadian political site (yes, we have one of those...generally closed to those who are not members). But no name calling there!

ET, although I haven't been here as long as you have, I have been here awhile and I do remember when it was pleasant but also when there was a certain group headed by one in particular who enjoyed targeting certain people even though she was not initially involved whatsoever. At that time, I stayed away for awhile ...and from time to time, I do leave for other destinations!

Fortunately through bashes in FL I've had the greatest pleasure of meeting some wonderful people face to face and spending time with them. Those people I shall not forget.

Thanks for this blog, ET!

Hi ET. I suppose its up to us who have been here for a long time, to turn the blogs around and share, as JK said, about our lives, how we manage being older. and the day to day lives we lead. I have to admit Im very wary about writing a blog any more, Im not sure why. I enjoyed your blog ET, it reminded me about how SFF was a more personal place, with the odd scrap! Keep posting. The joke blogs today were a welcome change.
