My faith was exactly the same as Einstein described. Totally irreligious parents yet somehow I became a devout Cristian, then at about age 12, after studying the Bible, I realized it was for the most part fiction at which point I lost my faith entirely and never got it back.

I love the Bible. I find it inspirational and encouraging. I know others dont, but that's their right. Just like mine to embrace it, that's my right. Love me or hate me for it, doesnt matter. It's one of God's big comforts for me. Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

'Thinking within a fixed circle of one's ideas tends to restrict the questions to a limited field. And if one's questions stay in a limited field, so also do the answers.' (David Bohm, theoretical physicist). I think his observation cuts across the board.

Bohm had a deep sense of the sacred, of Holy 'a being beyond what can be grasped in thought, a Presence within cosmic energy'. For Bohm the evil of Ignorance is the ignorance of humanity, its closed mindedness, of the human ego closed to the Universal Mind/supreme intelligence who communicates through insight. Perhaps a little convoluted but I think the quote has relevance here.
