Whew

I have often thought of someone from another country trying to learn English. How confusing it must be.

True Ann... & yes, Rocket!

I've taught English to French speaking students (& taught French) and believe me, it is very difficult for them to learn English. But I can also speak for other languages, such as German (your verb in German comes at the end of the sentence but more explanation needed there LO

The first 20 of these are almost exclusively the use of nouns as verbs - with the subsequent change in emphasis or pronunciation used to show the difference.
The second part is the classic difficulty anyone has with learning a foreign language - the use of certain words as adverbs, prepositions and adjectives. Using the wrong preposition in particular is often the sign of someone using a language which is not their native tongue.

As a classical case -In cricket when a batsman is out he comes back in but when he is in he is hard to get out. When it is his turn to go in he has to get out into the field. His outing is called an innings and ends when he is out.

Hmmm, never thought of it but you may be somewhat right.

The town I am from has a Purdue turkey processing plant and hires lots of foreigners. Spanish is heard a lot there.

Interesting and funny, DanDee. I started learning English just because I like it, but I never stop learning. Yes, it's difficult for me! Thanks for this blog.
