America’s top infectious diseases expert was “wrong” to suggest the US has seen a rise in coronavirus infections because its lockdown was not strict enough, President Donald Trump has said. Dr Anthony Fauci told US Congress that the disparity between the outbreak in the US and those of European countries can be attributed to the extent lockdown measures were introduced. Fauci said most European countries shut their economies down by 95%, while the US only closed its economy by half. President Trump disagreed, tweeting: “We have more cases because we have tested far more than any other country.” Trump has repeatedly claimed the US has the highest number of cases in the world - more than 4.6 million as it stands - because of its testing regime. The US has carried out more than 56 million coronavirus tests to date, according to the latest data. That is more than any other western country, but health experts say the increase in positive cases in recent weeks cannot be attributed to the rise in testing alone.

So, if you never get tested for covid-19 you'll never be infected. Too bad Herman Cain, and 150,000 other dead people, didn't listen to Trump.

In urban hot-spots......including St. Catharines Ontario....contact numbers are posted for reporting violations to the provincial police force......gatherings over 10 people.....social distancing and mask wearing applies everywhere....In my community, though there hasn't been a case here and no cases in neighbouring towns or greater Vancouver Island for weeks. It is however, tourist season and, although traffic is greatly reduced, we have many visitors. For about a month, we have cautiously instituted family "pods", where a family chooses one other family to socialize with on an unrestricted basis.... The schools will not open in Sept.......Social distancing and mask-wearing applies in all instances and restaurants are only open for take-out. All Canadian borders are closed to US travelers.........We have had to add new personnel to Alaska. Early on, Americans crossing our Southern border and stated that they were going to Alaska, were let in, but it soon became apparent that they were just saying that to gain entry, so we had to tighten that loop-hole.....Also boat traffic from the US .....It's amazing how many Americans try to sneak in.....you're our Mexico......."bringing disease, bringing crime"........

Your comment to me seems to contradict the comment you made to Kofla about his photo...... "K, I hope you don't mind my saying this but when I saw the photo of you and your co-workers I was worried. I can't imagine you three standing so close together during this deadly pandemic. Here everyone in stores, banks etc., customers and staff, are six feet apart. Stay safe." The contradiction seems obvious.......Kofla and staff should stay safe, but not your neighbours?

I was going by what you described in your first comment: ". Last night I woke up about 2 a.m. and saw there was some kind of weird house party going on in one of the houses nearby. Huge picture windows I could see there were all kinds of people in that house milling around, dancing. One person was dressed in what looked to be a red devil's costume. Very strange. What about social distancing and wearing masks. The only one wearing a mask at that party was the devil." I wouldn't assume the NYPD and the Ontario Provincial Police would handle things the same way......I also don't know if the Ontario Provincial Police would break up a private party, but they have public notices of regulations and encourage the public to report violations to them, including phone numbers.....

Why in the world did you comment about your neighbour's party on this Covid blog after expressing concern about Kofla and his co-workers not following protocol ? What does a party have to do with anything.....just a random comment with no connection to the rest of the blog and your previous comment?.......Talk about weird,

Why does it freak you you out so much to be challenged?....Apparently you are unable to tell the difference between an insult and a question and erupt in a cartoonish defense......The only other time I challenged you was in a blog about systemic racism and you claimed that there was no systemic racism in Canada.....I was outraged by that because I have been advocating all my life for First Nations rights and the abolishment of the horrendous, racism that still exists towards them......I just could not imagine anyone in Canada not aware of the struggle..... I wasn't attacking you personally, but expressing my deep frustration and disappointment that a fellow Canadian has never heard of the struggle of the First Nations in the country or even their own neighbours........
